This is a classic JBL Metregon from the 1950’s and 60’s. It has been well kept and has all of the original speaker/crossover components. I really know nothing about the interior components, other than the fact that they are as they came from the factory, and still sound as good. The original wax seals are all present on the screws. I do not intend to open it. The cabinet has never been opened since the factory assembled it, and my father purchased it new around 1962. I can vouch that it has never been played at a loud volume. Before removing it from the estate to my brother’s house, I played a couple of LP’s and I heard no distortion or anything other than clean sound. This was also the first time it had been moved since it arrived at our house in 1962. It has been very well cared for, and while not flawless or mint, it has only a couple of small scratches, and a couple of small dings or flaws that if desired, should be fairly easily repaired. I’ve included a close-up of the worst one. They are more visible in the photos than in person as the flash really lights them up, and in reality shouldn’t be much of an issue. It is after all, fifty years old. You can see from the picture of the rear of the cabinet that it has never been in a humid environment, as the black paint on the dense particle board is in very good shape, unlike some I’ve seen for sale in the past.
Included is a mint, original, brochure that has been with the cabinet since new.
The dimensions are 73 11/16" wide X 30" tall X 22 1/2" deep (from center of curved panel). Approximate weight 200 lbs.
This Metregon is located in Newberg, Oregon, and can be seen by appointment.
$6800 OBO.

As this is large and heavy, the buyer will have to arrange packing, pick-up, and shipping through one of the reputable companies that handle heavy furniture. I can’t personally recommend one, but a Google search will turn up several. I personally would consult Angie’s list when checking with potential shippers. I turned up the following shipping price from FL to NY Nov.2010 from an internet search.
